Freshman Sawyer Strosnider continues to shine, and Tommy LaPour is an ace you can trust. This team has the depth and talent to play its way back into the Top 25.

The upcoming set with Cincinnati looms large. The Bearcats are coming off a statement series win over Kansas, making this a high-stakes battle in the Big 12.

1) I Said It Last Week… “Chaos. Just Chaos.”
If last week was chaos, this week doubled down. Texas rose to the top of the rankings—only to get swept by Arkansas. Tennessee and Auburn traded blows. Texas A&M and LSU scrapped through a gritty series of their own.

In the ACC and Big 12, it’s like no one wants to seize control. Louisville and NC State drop series, Clemson gets swept by the Pack, and then turns around to battle Florida State in an instant classic. Out west, Oregon walks into Corvallis and stuns Oregon State with a sweep.

This week’s Top 25 was a gauntlet to sort through. We weighed head-to-head results, recent form, overall resumes (RPI and more), and tried to bring clarity to the madness.

2) A New Number One – Arkansas Razorbacks
Sweep the No. 1 team in the nation and you’re getting noticed. Do it convincingly with Arkansas's resume? You’re jumping to the top.

Texas had a strong claim to stay on top—only their first series loss of the year, two early-season tournament titles, and the most top-100 wins—but the Hogs decided not just to win, they imposed their will.

With 40 wins, Arkansas becomes the first team in the country to hit that milestone and ties its best 24-game start in SEC play. They’ve won 30 at Baum-Walker. This team is complete: a lineup that just clubbed five homers in one game, a bullpen that keeps them in every battle, and a championship-caliber mentality.

Yes, they stumbled against a surging Florida team the weekend prior—no shame in that, especially the way Florida’s playing right now. But in a year where nobody’s perfect, Arkansas has simply stumbled less.

Eight straight seasons with 40+ wins. Another SEC title in sight. The Hogs have earned their perch atop the mountain.
3) Who’s In? #18 Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes are officially back in the mix.

Miami has flipped the script since early April. A 12–3 stretch, including sweeps of Georgia Tech and Boston College, series wins over Duke and NC State, and now a five-game win streak, has them surging.

This team is red-hot at 29–18 overall and 14–9 in the ACC. Daniel Cuvet continues to mash, building off his All-American freshman season, and Jake Ogden has been a crucial transfer addition up the middle.

On the mound, the Canes are getting real production from young arms. Freshmen A.J. Ciscar and Tate DeRias have steadied the rotation, and Reese Lumpkin’s been a reliable midweek option. Griffin Hugus remains a rock, with a 3.68 ERA and 72 punchouts across 66 frames.

This mix of youth and veteran leadership is dangerous, and Miami is trending toward June baseball.
4) Who's In? #23 Florida Gators
Dead? Never count out the Gators.

When it felt like Florida was out of the picture, they did what they do best—heat up when it matters. They’ve won five of their last six SEC series and are firing on all cylinders.

Colby Shelton and Brendan Lawson have been crushing the baseball. Bobby Boser and Luke Heyman continue to terrorize SEC arms.

The rotation has found its anchor in Liam Peterson, who’s emerged as one of the conference’s breakout arms. His 13-strikeout gem against Arkansas might’ve been the turning point in Florida’s season.

After a sweep of South Carolina and a huge win over the Hogs, Florida looks every bit the contender they were in 2024. The question now: Can they ride this wave all the way back to Omaha?
5) Who's In? #24 NC State Wolfpack
The Wolfpack are a puzzle—and a dangerous one at that.

One week, they sweep Clemson, outscoring the Tigers 26–8. Next, they drop a midweek game to UNC-Wilmington and lose two to Miami. The third game is rained out.

It’s a young team, sure, but talented. Chris McHugh and Alex Sosa are mashing, while Ty Head sets the table. Outfielders Brayden Fraasman and Josh Hogue give the lineup real juice.

Pitching remains the question mark. Their 4.92 team ERA tells the story. Ryan Marohn’s been solid, and Dominic Fritton has held his own, but they’re still searching for consistency.

At 15–8 in ACC play, this team is dangerous. If they can figure it out on the mound, don’t be surprised if the Pack makes noise down the stretch.
6) Who’s Out? Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The wheels have come off for Georgia Tech.

After getting swept by Miami, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. But seven straight losses, including a tough midweek to Auburn and a series defeat to Virginia, made the drop unavoidable.

They rebounded with a soft non-conference set vs. Western Carolina, but that doesn’t move the needle. They’re still lurking just outside the Top 25.

This is a team loaded with talent. Drew Burress remains one of the best players in the country, and he’s surrounded by a potent lineup featuring Kent Schmidt, Kyle Lodise, and freshman standout Alex Hernandez.

The pitching has been uneven. Tate McKee and Brady Jones have had moments, while Mason Patel has been electric out of the ‘pen.

They’ve still got time—two weeks left to get right. At 33–14 and 15–9 in the ACC, don’t count them out yet.
7) Who's Out? Louisville Cardinals
Louisville has tumbled out of the Top 25, too—and it’s not hard to see why.

At 13–11 in ACC play (32–15 overall), the Cardinals have dropped series to Notre Dame, NC State, Clemson, and Virginia Tech. Yes, they did notch a big series win over Florida State, even run-ruling the ‘Noles on April 27, but it hasn’t been enough to offset the inconsistencies.

Injuries have hit hard. Reid Detmers, Patrick Forbes, Matt Klein, Tagger Tyson, Garret Pike—this group’s been banged up.

Still, the offense has kept them afloat. Lucas Moore, Jake Munroe, Zion Rose, and Eddie King Jr. are all legit. If a couple of arms can rise up, this team can be a problem again. But right now, they’re just searching for consistency.
