NBA Player Props For Wednesday: 5-Star Over For Toppin

TJ Inman

Host · Writer

The second round of the NBA Playoffs is underway, and Wednesday night puts the spotlight firmly on the Big Apple and Game 2 of the conference semifinals between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. Game 1 was a thrilling back-and-forth affair that ended with what Stan Van Gundy described as a “shocking" illegal screen call against Myles Turner that prevented the Pacers from having a chance to take the lead in the waning seconds. Emotions will be high as the Knicks try to take a 2-0 lead.

Here are the top player prop picks for Wednesday night!

Indiana at New York – 8:00 on TNT

The SportsGrid model has a number of five-star plays for tonight’s game between the Knicks and Pacers, beginning with a pair of projections for Pacers forward Obi Toppin. The former New York Knicks player has had a very good playoff run and he is extremely comfortable in the Pacers uptempo system. Toppin has a posted total of 9.5 points and the SportsGrid model projects him to easily cover that number and score 12.9. In addition, he is listed with a combined total of only 14.5 points and rebounds, and the model has Toppin securing five rebounds on top of his 13 points, easily going over the combined total.

Sticking with the Pacers’ highly successful bench, T.J. McConnell has been on fire recently and has seen his minutes increase in the past few weeks. McConnell is listed with a posted total of 10.5 points and the SportsGrid model has a five-star projection on him going over and putting up 13.4 points in Game 2.

The New York Knicks do not get much bench production, and head coach Tom Thibodeau strongly believes in playing his starters as many minutes as they can possibly handle. As a result, bench player Miles McBride’s point total is a paltry 5.5. The SportsGrid model has McBride scoring 9.6 points and going over the total by a couple of baskets.
