Golden State Warriors Bet on Aging Core for Another Run

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Golden State’s Aging Roster Raises Questions About Its Ceiling

What is Golden State doing this year? The team has essentially brought back a 40-year-old roster, adding Al Horford and Porzingis, who has struggled to stay healthy, alongside 37-year-old Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

Golden State is not beating OKC or the San Antonio Spurs. The hope is simply that nobody gets hurt or runs out of oxygen before the season is over.

Still, Golden State’s situation is different from that of the Houston Rockets or Phoenix Suns because the Warriors have already banked those championships. With a new stadium and sellout crowds every night, they can live off their past success.

The strange part of Golden State’s offseason was that it felt like everything hinged on potentially signing LeBron James. When that did not happen, the response seemed to be, “I guess we’ll just play.”

Golden State will probably win 47 games and finish as the fourth or fifth seed. The Warriors may win in the first round or may lose, but that is likely where their season will end.
