ACC Best Bets: Week 7 of the 2024 College Football Season

The 2024 college football season is nearing its midway point and we are now getting into the thick of conference play. Miami has established itself as the clear favorite in the ACC, but the race is on for bowl eligibility and the second spot in the ACC Championship Game. The Hurricanes have escaped with narrow wins in each of the past two weeks but still have the best player in the league (Cam Ward) and sit atop the league title odds. Clemson, SMU and Pitt lead the group of challengers hoping to earn a spot in the ACC Championship Game.

Let’s begin with a complete list of the games involving ACC squads and then dive into a couple of our favorite bets for Week 7.

Clemson (-20.5) at Wake Forest Saturday at Noon on ESPN
Georgia Tech at North Carolina Saturday at Noon ET on The CW
Stanford at Notre Dame Saturday at 3:30 on NBC/Peacock
California at Pitt Saturday at 3:30 on ESPN
Louisville at Virginia Saturday at 3:30 on ACCN
Syracuse at NC State Saturday at 8:00 on ACCN

ACC Best Bets

Cal at Pittsburgh (-3.5) – Saturday at 3:30 on ESPN

The Cal Golden Bears folded in spectacular fashion late Saturday night, surrendering a 35-10 lead and losing to the Miami Hurricanes. The loss ended an otherwise wonderful day in Berkeley as the campus welcomed ESPN’s College Gameday to town and got a lot of buzz and attention for clever signage. Pittsburgh is a very surprising 5-0 and the Panthers are unbeaten with wins over Cincinnati, West Virginia and North Carolina. The Panthers have Syracuse on deck before traveling to SMU for a potential showdown at the top of the ACC standings. Quarterback Eli Holstein has been a pleasant surprise as Pitt has dialed up the offense and done enough on defense to win close games. The SportsGrid model loves Pitt in this matchup, placing a five-star projection on the Panthers to win by six points and cover the 3.5-point spread

Louisville at Virginia (+7.5) – Saturday at 3:30 on ACCN

The Louisville Cardinals bludgeoned overmatched opponents to begin the season. Still, they have flopped on back-to-back chances to push into the playoff picture, losing to Notre Dame and SMU. The Cardinals really need a win and they are favored in Charlottesville as they battle the Virginia Cavaliers. UVA is 4-1 after a 24-14 victory over Boston College and the Cavaliers are already 2-0 in the ACC. The defense has stood out after holding Boston College to 319 total yards and forcing three turnovers. UVA has reigned in the risk-taking of Anthony Colandrea and has leaned more on receiver Malachi Fields to help generate some explosive plays. The SportsGrid model has a five-star projection on Virginia, covering the spread, with Louisville winning by only four points. The model also has a play on the total with a five-star projection on this game going over the 54.5 number.
