The Notre Dame Fighting Irish attempt to rebound from the shocking loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies as they head to West Lafayette to play 1-0 Purdue. The Boilermakers hammered Indiana State in week one and have had two weeks to prepare for the Irish. Both teams are a bit of a mystery as Notre Dame impressively won at Texas A&M before losing at home to NIU, and Purdue has not played an FBS opponent yet. What should you make of this in-state clash?
We’ve got you covered with our favorite plays from Saturday’s showdown.

Notre Dame at Purdue Best Bet ATS: Purdue (+9.5)
The SportsGrid model has Notre Dame winning this game, but there is a five-star projection on the Purdue Boilermakers to cover the spread of 9.5. The model projects the Fighting Irish to win this game by seven points. Notre Dame only gained 286 yards against Northern Illinois, and the offense was far from sharp in week one against Texas A&M. Purdue is now in Year 2 under former Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, and the Boilermakers shut out Indiana State in Week 1 before having a bye week to get prepared for Riley Leonard and the Irish. Leonard threw a pair of interceptions last week, averaging only 5.1 yards per attempt thus far in 2023. That makes it easy for a defense to crowd the line of scrimmage and not fear getting beat deep. The Boilermakers should lean on the running back duo of Reggie Love and Devin Mockobee and avoid testing Notre Dame’s elite secondary to keep this game tight.

Notre Dame at Purdue Best Player Props
Jeremiyah Love 100+ yards (+174) and Devin Mockobee 70+ yards (+194)
I expect both teams to keep the ball on the ground and try to hammer their opponent with the rushing attack. Riley Leonard’s legs will be a factor for Notre Dame, and I think Purdue will rely on the physical Devin Mockobee to keep Notre Dame’s offense on the sidelines. Our two favorite player props are Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love to go over 100 yards and Purdue running back Mockobee to go over 70 yards. Both wagers are at plus-money and offer good value.
