Purdue is now in Year 2 under former Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, and the Boilermakers shut out Indiana State in Week 1 before having a bye week to get prepared for Riley Leonard and the Irish. Leonard threw a pair of interceptions last week, averaging only 5.1 yards per attempt thus far in 2023. That makes it easy for a defense to crowd the line of scrimmage and not fear getting beat deep. The Boilermakers should lean on the running back duo of Reggie Love and Devin Mockobee and avoid testing Notre Dame’s elite secondary to keep this game tight.
