The Northern Illinois Huskies (2-1) will face off with the NC State Wolfpack (2-2) at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Both the Northern Illinois Huskies and the NC State Wolfpack are eager to erase the sting of recent defeats as they clash this weekend.

Last week, the 23rd-ranked Huskies (2-1, 0-1 MAC) saw a 14-3 halftime advantage slip away, ultimately succumbing to the Buffalo Bulls 23-20 in a heart-wrenching overtime loss. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack (2-2, 0-1 ACC) faced a tough outing, falling 59-35 to the 21st-ranked Clemson Tigers.

This matchup marks only the second encounter between the two programs, their first meeting having occurred over a quarter century ago on September 20, 1997, when NC State secured a commanding 41-14 win.

However, recent history offers a glimmer of hope for the Huskies, who have found some rhythm against ACC opponents, notching victories in their last two encounters—including a narrow 22-21 triumph at Georgia Tech in 2021 and a 27-24 overtime victory against Boston College last season. Despite an overall record of 4-9 against the ACC, NIU has kept most of these contests competitive, with eight of the 13 games decided by seven points or fewer.
