Miami Hurricanes Face UNC: Potential ACC Trap Game

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Miami Faces a No-Win Situation Against UNC

Is Miami’s game against UNC a trap game? It is difficult to say because Miami continues to enter games as a heavy favorite. Calling these matchups trap games may be the only way to make the ACC schedule feel competitive.

The conference has been a disappointment and compares poorly with the Big 12. That is not Miami’s fault. The Hurricanes can only play the conference schedule in front of them, but the lack of strong competition makes it difficult to evaluate the team.

Miami is in a no-win situation against UNC. If the game is close, it will be viewed as embarrassing. If the Hurricanes win by a huge margin, the response will be that the opponent was not good enough for the result to matter.

The ACC schedule also lacks the demanding weekly matchups seen in the Big Ten and SEC. Miami’s biggest game so far has been against Wake Forest, which did not provide a clear answer about the Hurricanes’ true level.

There may not be a meaningful evaluation of Miami until next week in South Bend.
