Saturday College Football Picks, Best Bets and Underdogs

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From SportsGrid College Football Today

Saturday Card Features Florida, North Carolina and Cincinnati as Underdog Picks

After looking at how Buster Faulkner’s Georgia Tech offense has kept games close against Georgia, the pick is Florida plus 12.5. Florida can be great or bad, but the expectation is that the Gators will be closer to great today. Georgia is still viewed as the best team in the country, but its struggles to maintain control of the ball could help Florida keep the game close.

North Carolina is another underdog worth backing at plus 14.5 against Miami. Miami is ranked No. 1 and faces a road game at South Bend next week, but first must visit a UNC team that should not be taken lightly. North Carolina has a strong passing attack, while Miami’s weakness is its pass defense. UNC is not expected to win, but it can keep the game close, as it did against Notre Dame a couple of weeks ago.

Cincinnati plus 7.5 against Utah is also on the card. Utah escaped Houston with two fourth-quarter touchdowns and has BYU next week, creating a potential sandwich game. Cincinnati enters hungry after beating Texas Tech last week.

Oregon State’s team total over 32.5 against Fresno State is another play. The expectation is for Oregon State to score at least 40 points.

Finally, Northwestern is the pick at plus 3.5 on the road against Oregon. Oregon is struggling to resolve its quarterback situation and has scored 20 points or fewer in three consecutive games since Dante Moore was injured. Northwestern enters hungry and can take advantage.
