Texas Football's Downfall: Why Arch Manning Isn't the Answer

Texas Draws Criticism After Loss to Florida

For me, watching Texas lose is beautiful. I do not dislike Arch Manning, who seems like a good kid, or even the Texas program itself. I dislike how sports television covers the program.

Texas is not a national contender. Its two losses are to unranked teams, and Arch Manning has not shown that he is a first-round quarterback. People keep trying to present him as the top quarterback taken, but if his name were Larry Manning or Manning Larry, none of the attention would make sense. He does not deserve the level of attention he receives based on his performance.

Texas was favored by 11.5 points and led Florida 17-3. Florida then scored 24 straight points at home.

Despite the loss, Texas dropped only 12 spots and remains ranked No. 19. If USC had lost to Florida, it would have faced a much harsher reaction. That is how the SEC gets treated. With the new playoff, Texas should be in a favorable position next year and might make the College Football Playoff.
