The stakes have never been higher for the Cincinnati Bengals. With just one win through the first five weeks of the season, the AFC North basement dwellers are already facing an uphill climb to get back in the playoff conversation. Their desperation becomes even more apparent when we look past Week 6 at their upcoming schedule, a luxury the Bengals can’t afford. They need to remain focused on the task at hand and get past a resilient New York Giants team that has pulled off come-from-behind wins in two of the past three weeks. All eyes will be focused on the Bengals and Giants as they battle it out on Sunday Night Football.

Bengals vs. Giants SNF Best Bet ATS: Bengals -3.5
Cincinnati’s outcomes don’t reflect the quality of their offense or on-field product. The Bengals have been moving the ball with ease on offense. So far this season, they’re averaging 359.0 yards per game but that total has taken a significant step up over the past few weeks. Since Week 3 the Bengals are averaging 417.0 yards, translating to 35.0 points per game. Still, they only have one win to show for their efforts. Cincinnati needs its defense to step up in a big way and they’ll get that chance against a sub-par Giants offense. New York averages the sixth-fewest points per game and has mustered more than 340 yards of offense just once through five games. That’s going to make it hard to keep pace with Joe Burrow and company. Advantage Bengals.

Bengals vs. Giants SNF Best Bet Total: Under 46.5
While the Bengals could put up 47 points on their own, they need to avoid the same pitfalls that have limited them all season. We’re anticipating a more responsible defensive effort combined with a more tactical approach on offense. Rather than getting into another run-and-gun game, the Bengals are better off taking a possession-driven approach, limiting the Giants’ time of possession. That’s a similar strategy we’ve seen from New York all season. The Giants have a more methodical approach, preferring to hang onto the football and dictate pace. A slower pace limits the amount of possessions and makes it harder to run up the score. We’re swimming against the betting current with this one, but we’re expecting this inter-conference affair to fall short of the total.
Bengals vs. Giants SNF Best Player Props
Tee Higgins Any Time Touchdown Scorer +155
Ja’Marr Chase gets the lion’s share of the adulation in Cincinnati, but it’s time to take notice of Tee Higgins. Since returning to the lineup, Higgins has been Joe Burrow’s preferred target, and we expect an elite performance from him on Sunday Night Football. In Week 5, Higgins was targeted 14 times by Burrow, hauling in nine of those passes for 83 yards and two scores. The week prior, the former second-round pick brought down six of 10 targets for a more modest 60 yards. That accounts for a 34.3% target share while leading the team in both games.
Moreover, New York’s pass defense is also unremarkable. They rank in the bottom half of the league in completions allowed and opponent passing touchdowns, capped off with the fourth-worst opponent completion percentage. As such, Chase and Higgins will have plenty of room to move in the secondary. While the over on their receiving yards and receptions props is tempting, the best value is backing Higgins to find the endzone on Sunday Night Football.
