Robert Saleh, who was brought on board in 2021 with high hopes of revitalizing a floundering Jets squad, leaves behind a record of 20-36. Despite being lauded for his leadership and defensive acumen, Saleh’s tenure has been marred by inconsistencies and underachievement, prompting the Jets to seek a new direction midway through his third season.

This firing underscores the often harsh realities of the NFL, where results on the field frequently dictate the longevity of a coaching stint. The Jets, under Saleh’s guidance, showed flashes of potential but struggled to find consistency, especially in games that could have pivoted them into playoff contention. The team’s performance this season, culminating in a less-than-stellar start, seems to have been the final straw.
As the Jets look to the future, the quest for a new head coach begins—an endeavor they hope will inject much-needed vitality and vision into the team. Meanwhile, Saleh’s departure will surely ignite discussions across the league about the pressures and expectations placed on NFL coaches and the ever-evolving dynamics of team leadership in professional football.
