Tampa Bay Buccaneers Record Prediction
Tampa falls just short of the NFC playoffs and finishes the regular season third in the NFC South. Plenty of questions remain on the future of Baker Mayfield and Todd Bowles heading into 2025.
Season Win Total: 7.5 (Over -150/Under +116)
Record: 8-9
Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Futures Odds
At long last, the NFL schedule was released in full on Wednesday night. With all 272 games now assigned kickoff times and broadcast rights, it's time to examine the schedule for the three-time defending NFC South Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bucs NFL Futures Odds:
Win Total:7.5 (Over -15/Under +122)
Super Bowl +5500
NFC +3000
NFC South +290
The Buccaneers find themselves solidly cemented into the second tier of NFL teams. While they are contenders with the second-shortest odds to win the NFC South, only behind the Atlanta Falcons, their NFC Championship and Super Bowl odds remain long, while their win total is relatively low. There are a few questions at certain positions and still within the staff, leaving some doubt about how far this team can honestly go. We don't see much value among the futures odds for Tampa Bay in 2024.
September 8, 2024 – Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa hosts second-overall pick Jayden Daniels in his NFL debut as the Commanders visit Raymond James Stadium. Amazingly, the Buccaneers have not beaten Washington at home since 2007, when Jason Campbell and Jeff Garcia were the starters. Daniels shows some flashes, but the veteran-led Bucs eventually come out on top.
Score: Commanders 10, Buccaneers 23
September 15, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions
It's a rematch of last year's entertaining divisional-round matchup that led to the conclusion of Tampa's season after a hard-fought battle in Detroit. While the Bucs will likely be able to keep things close yet again at Ford Field, Detroit feels half a step ahead on both sides of the football. The Lions take a close and competitive one at home in Week 2.
Score: Buccaneers 24, Lions 28
September 22, 2024 – Denver Broncos vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Denver is undoubtedly in a rebuilding phase, and they may have the worst quarterback room in the league with Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson, and first-round rookie Bo Nix. Who knows who will be under center, but it's hard to picture that they will have the firepower to compete with most teams, including the Bucs. Tampa gets back over .500.
Score: Broncos 6, Buccaneers 21
September 29, 2024 – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While Philadelphia handled business against the Bucs early last season on Monday Night Football, Tampa Bay has had the better of the Eagles when it's counted in recent years, winning four of their past five matchups, including a pair of playoff games. It's been the rekindling of an NFC rivalry that had its day in the sun in the early 2000s. Now healthy with some substantial offseason additions, Philly gets its revenge on the road and takes down Tampa as the Bucs fall to .500 on the year.
Score: Eagles 34, Buccaneers 15
October 3, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons (TNF)
The Bucs don't face their first NFC South rival until Week 5, and it should be a fun one on Thursday Night Football against the revamped Atlanta Falcons led by Kirk Cousins. With so much talent at the skill positions on both rosters, the fireworks should be on full display. Still, we'll back the home birds to find a way late in the game, thanks to their new veteran signal-caller.
Score: Buccaneers 31, Falcons 34
October 13, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
Ever since Tom Brady arrived in Tampa, the Bucs and Saints went from a regional rivalry to one that has caught national attention as a battle of bad blood. While Tampa has had New Orleans's number over the past few seasons, they fall short in a rocking Superdome. Now, at 0-2 in the NFC South, it looks like an uphill climb for the postseason in South Florida.
Score: Buccaneers 17, Saints 20
October 21, 2024 – Baltimore Ravens vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (MNF)
The best player on the field will be Lamar Jackson, and he'll play like it in his home state against the Bucs. Baltimore will tally a win as it hands Tampa Bay its fifth loss of the season.
Score: Ravens 21, Buccaneers 17
October 27, 2024 – Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In a rematch of a heartbreaking loss on Thursday Night Football just a month prior, the Bucs face a rare pre-Halloween must-win spot at 2-5 without a division win to their name and a brutal stretch upcoming on the schedule. Baker Mayfield and the Bucs do it convincingly, and Tampa's season stays alive as we enter November.
Score: Falcons 16, Buccaneers 27
November 4, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Kansas City Chiefs (MNF)
The third primetime game in five weeks isn't any easier than the previous two as Tampa will head to Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football, a place they haven't won at in 38 years. While the Bucs had seemingly cracked the code on how to contain Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LV, plenty of those players are long gone from that defense. Mahomes goes off as his march toward a third league MVP continues.
Score: Buccaneers 9, Chiefs 34
November 10, 2024 – San Francisco 49ers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It's unfortunate to catch such a talented team coming off their bye, but somebody has to play them. Tampa falls short at home and stares at a 3-7 record as their bye week approaches.
Score: 49ers 30, Buccaneers 19
November 17, 2024 – BYE
It's a much-needed bye after a brutal month of games leading up to the break. The Buccaneers will need to put together a strong second half of the season to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
November 24, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants
This is the start of a favorable stretch in Tampa's schedule. The Giants chose not to draft a quarterback, and it bites them in the butt for another season as the offense struggles to get going, especially in this matchup. Tampa improves to 4-7 behind a gutsy defensive showing.
Score: Buccaneers 17, Giants 3
December 1, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
While Bryce Young takes a slight step forward in 2024, he still isn't looking like the top overall pick Carolina drafted two seasons prior. Tampa makes quick work of the Panthers and now finds themselves creeping toward the playoff picture.
Score: Buccaneers 31, Panthers 7
December 8, 2024 – Las Vegas Raiders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay squeaks out a dramatic overtime victory over the feisty Raiders in overtime. It's now three straight for Tampa Bay since their bye, and things are starting to look up for the Bucs as they sit 6-7 and firmly within the NFC playoff picture.
Score: Raiders 20, Buccaneers 23 (OT)
December 15, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh's reinvented Los Angeles Chargers will look to grind teams down with a strong defense and run-first attack. That's precisely what they'll do to the Bucs here, putting a massive dent into their playoff hopes.
Score: Buccaneers 8, Chargers 24
December 22, 2024 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys (SNF)
Just before Christmas, Tampa's clinging playoff hopes fall short in Arlington as the Cowboys take care of business and continue their push for the NFC East title. Dak Prescott tears Tampa Bay apart for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.
Score: Buccaneers 10, Cowboys 28
December 29, 2024 – Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Carolina puts up a better fight later in the season, but the Bucs still pull out the victory to claim the season sweep over the Panthers as Chase McLaughlin sends one through the uprights as time expires.
Score: Panthers 14, Buccaneers 16
January 5, 2024 – New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It's all for naught in the season finale, but the Bucs cap off their season with a win that will still mean some as it comes against their biggest rivals and helps knock them out of the playoff picture.
Score: Saints 13, Buccaneers 23
