Browns vs. Steelers Betting Preview, Picks and Props

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From NFL Pro Football Today

Browns-Steelers Matchup Points to a Close, Low-Scoring Game

The division matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers is expected to be one of the day’s lower-scoring games. Cleveland has been the better team this season, yet Pittsburgh is favored by three points, with the line reaching 3.5 in some spots. That extra half-point could be important for bettors.

Cleveland has repeatedly put the ball in its kicker’s hands late in games, and he continues to deliver. Reliable kicking has been a significant advantage for the Browns. Meanwhile, the Steelers are coming off a game in which they did not have to do much to secure a victory.

One approach is to pass on this game. Cleveland may be better than Pittsburgh, but it would not be surprising to see the Browns lose five games in a row. The low total also reflects expectations for a slow, less exciting matchup in the 1 p.m. window.

However, if the total continues to fall, the over could become worth considering. This is a rematch of Week 4, when Cleveland won 27-24 and gained an early edge in the division.

Deshaun Watson has taken a league-high 25 sacks, creating potential opportunities in the prop market. T.J. Watts’ sack total and other Pittsburgh defensive sack props could be worth examining, particularly markets set at over 0.5 sacks. There may be value on the defensive side rather than focusing only on offensive props.

The Browns at plus 3.5 are also appealing because the game is expected to remain close. Pittsburgh tends to slow the pace, and both teams should run the football frequently. Cleveland has Judkins, while Pittsburgh can rely on the combination of Jalen Warren and Rico Dowdell.

That anticipated emphasis on the running game explains the interest in the under, but bettors should be careful if the total drops too far. At that point, the over may offer a better opportunity.

Another option is to watch the first quarter before considering a live bet. That could provide a clearer picture of which team looks sharp and whether Pittsburgh is affected by the quick turnaround after returning from London, particularly with its older quarterbacks and other aging players.
