Eagles Turn to Tanner McKee as Jalen Hurts Sidelined

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Eagles Face Carolina With Tanner McKee Set to Replace Jalen Hurts

The Eagles enter Sunday’s game with 24 players listed on the injury report. Most notably, starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is out after doctors found a blood clot. His recovery timeline remains uncertain and could range from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Tanner McKee is expected to start in his place.

The quarterback change caused the betting line to shift from the Eagles being 1.5-point favorites to 3.5-point underdogs, with the number potentially continuing to move.

Philadelphia is once again in a house-money situation. The Eagles covered against Jacksonville last week and had an opportunity to win before letting the game slip away.

Along with Hurts, the Eagles remain without Smith and Barkley. Three of the five offensive-line starters from Week 1 are also unavailable. Despite those absences, getting Philadelphia as a 3.5-point home underdog is too tempting to pass up.

Upsets happen, and Carolina could overlook the matchup after expecting to face an NFC powerhouse led by Hurts. Instead, the Panthers will face McKee and a depleted Eagles roster.

If Philadelphia’s season continues to deteriorate, serious conversations about the head coach and quarterback could follow. The discussion about the coach would come first.
