Aaron Glenn Faces a Tough Challenge as New York Struggles to Score
Aaron Glenn has a difficult job in New York. During his tenure as head coach, the Jets have been outscored 107-6 in the final two minutes of the first half.
One thing working in Glenn’s favor is that the players respect him. They want to play and win for him. He cannot make light of the team’s struggles, but he can keep the mood positive and challenge his players to score early. The players understand they cannot continue falling behind and trying to catch up.
Geno has played reasonably well and has avoided turning the ball over frequently, which is important because the team has a good defense. However, the Jets have struggled to score points. An offense that can score makes the defense’s job easier by forcing the opposing quarterback into situations where he has to throw. Without an offensive threat, opponents can methodically control the game.
Frank Reich has done a solid job of holding the offense together as offensive coordinator. Geno has a ceiling, so Reich’s priority is ensuring that he does not lose games with interceptions. If the turnovers begin piling up, the situation could quickly get much worse.
