Jets vs. Raiders Prediction, Odds and Week 8 Analysis

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From NFL Pro Football Today

Jets-Raiders Preview: New York Gets a Reluctant Home Lean

Outside of betting and fantasy football, there may not be much reason to watch the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders remain 1.5-point favorites at the Jets, a line that reflects how difficult both teams are to trust.

The Jets lost to the Dolphins last week in a bizarre, poorly managed game. Miami gave them chance after chance, but New York could not capitalize. The Raiders, meanwhile, have fallen back toward preseason expectations and could finish as a sub-.500 team.

Kirk Cousins has played well despite not having great receivers beyond Bowers and Tucker. Even so, this is not an appealing game for making a strong case on either side. One approach is simply to hope Braylin Allen has a good game.

Last week reinforced the belief that the Jets find ways to lose football games. Miami was one of the underdogs worth backing, and the Olly Gordon ladder bet also delivered.

Still, the Jets tend to respond whenever they are left for dead. With Las Vegas traveling across the country, New York is the pick at home. Omar Cooper has been useful, while Raylan Allen has been solid filling in for Breece Hall. The Jets have enough weapons to make one more play than the Raiders.

Las Vegas started hot but has since come crashing back to earth, creating a paper-tiger impression. Although the Raiders have played good offensive football, it also seems possible that they will take a look at Fernando Mendoza soon.
