Bengals Viewed as Jonathan Taylor’s Best Trade Destination
Trade buzz is building around Jonathan Taylor as the Indianapolis Colts begin sending out feelers. The Cincinnati Bengals appear to be the team that should go all in. Their defense is improved, Joe Burrow is healthy, and Chase and Higgins are on the field. With Chase Brown struggling after also starting slowly last year, Taylor could provide a major boost during Cincinnati’s current window.
Still, Indianapolis may be better off keeping Taylor through the end of the season. The Colts and owner Carly Irsay are doing their due diligence, but no team appears desperate for a running back right now. That could change, particularly depending on the Packers’ situation, and waiting another week may create a different opportunity.
The Colts also have little reason to accept less than their desired return, such as a second-round pick. By waiting until the offseason, they could open discussions with 30 teams instead of five and potentially find a team ready to meet their asking price.
Trading Taylor now could look desperate. Although Cincinnati remains the best potential destination, Indianapolis may ultimately benefit from holding onto him and waiting for a stronger market.
