Josh Allen Shines: NFL Week 5 Highlights & Analysis

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Josh Allen Delivers an Electric Primetime Performance

Josh Allen delivered an MVP-style performance, rushing for more than 120 yards and making big plays in crucial moments. Although he threw an awful interception before halftime and the passing game struggled to gain momentum, Allen put the team on his back with his ability on the ground.

The highly anticipated matchup lived up to its billing. The teams combined for 34 points in the fourth quarter as the action moved back and forth down the field. The 54.5-point total was not enough to contain the scoring.

Allen acknowledged after the game that the offense could not get much going through the air. The opposing defense was particularly strong in the secondary, where McDuffie has been playing at a high level. The absence of DJ Moore also affected the passing game.

Allen’s rushing production continued a notable trend. In the last five games with a total above 54.5 points, he has rushed for at least 60 yards each time. This primetime performance showcased his power, playmaking ability and knack for delivering in the biggest moments.

On the other side, Pukunuku broke the record for the most receptions on Monday Night Football. The game was so competitive that a tie almost felt appropriate for fans who enjoyed what both teams produced.

McVeigh admitted afterward that he made the wrong decision by not pushing farther down the field to give his kicker a better opportunity. The decision also prevented his MVP quarterback from having a chance to win the game. It became another learning experience after McVeigh’s earlier comment that sometimes you win and sometimes you learn.

The Rams are now 2-3 and looking up in the division. With the 49ers and Seahawks also in the picture, they have work to do. The Rams should remain in the mix entering December and January, but they must correct their problems and start winning games.

Purdy has been spectacular for the Niners, but performances like Allen’s are what win MVP awards. His 120 rushing yards, physical running and decisive plays under the primetime spotlight demonstrated why he is one of the best in the business. Both teams now face difficult stretches of their schedules.
