NFL Coaching Woes: Can the Cowboys Turn It Around?

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Sporting Tribune Today
Cowboys Face Trade Deadline Decisions Amid Coaching Concerns
With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, the 3-5 Cowboys must decide whether they are buyers or sellers. Even if they acquire a player such as Josh Sweat, who recorded the overtime sack, there are concerns that coaching could prevent a new addition from making the desired impact.
The Cowboys have already traded for players who were expected to strengthen the line, but those moves have not produced the intended results. The larger issue appears to extend beyond the head coach to every phase, including special teams and the defensive coordinator.
A midseason dismissal of Schottenheimer still seems unlikely because the organization is concerned with its image and wants to appear committed to doing right by its coach. Even if a change comes during the offseason, the question remains who Jerry would hire and what type of coach he wants.
Despite their 3-5 record, the Cowboys remain in contention because of top-end talent such as CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Dak Prescott. That talent could keep them in the playoff race, but there is little confidence that they could accomplish much in the postseason. It feels like a collapse, yet they are still in the race as attention begins shifting toward the offseason.
