NFL Jaguars vs. Texans London Preview, Odds and Picks

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Game Time Decisions

Jaguars and Houston Face a Pivotal Division Matchup in London

The Jaguars remain in London for a second consecutive game, a setup that has appeared to favor them in the past. After barely beating Philadelphia last week, Jacksonville enters its division matchup against Houston as a 2.5-point favorite, with the total set at 42.5.

Houston is coming off a win over Tennessee, but questions remain about its offense. Harrison could provide a boost, though his immediate impact may be limited. Houston gave up a lot to acquire him, suggesting the move was made with both the present and future in mind.

Jacksonville may have the better offense, but the difference does not appear significant. The Jaguars have also looked fortunate at times, although they could have beaten Denver after building a large lead. Against Philadelphia, Jacksonville appeared headed for a loss before finding a way to come back and win.

Defensively, Jacksonville has been far better statistically. Houston was expected to have one of the NFL’s best defenses, but it has continued to give up points. With that trend in mind, the over may be the better direction if Houston’s defensive struggles continue.

A loss would leave Houston at 1-5 and in serious trouble, though not necessarily eliminated. Buffalo, Baltimore and Kansas City were viewed as the strongest teams in the conference picture, while Cincinnati, Denver, New England and Jacksonville did not appear unbeatable.

With seven playoff teams per conference, including four division winners and three wild cards, Houston could remain in the race even after a 1-5 start. Finishing 8-4 over the remaining schedule would produce a 9-8 record and provide a chance, although the road ahead could be difficult.
