NFL Week 6 Highlights: Rams' Struggles & Coaching Challenges

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Rams Fall to 2-4 as NFL’s Unpredictable Week Delivers Another Major Upset

It was an insane week in the National Football League, and it remains difficult to identify the league’s best team. The Commanders and 49ers meet in a great Monday night game, with the 49ers looking like they could be the best team in football. Still, every week brings another massive storyline.

One of the biggest upsets happened at SoFi, where the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Arizona Cardinals and fell to 2-4. Many people believed the Rams had enough talent to go undefeated, but the team now finds itself in a much different position.

Sean McVay congratulated the Cardinals before acknowledging that the Rams will not win unless they stop beating themselves. He pointed to unforced errors, offensive problems, a big kickoff return, turnovers, negative plays and an offside penalty that turned fourth-and-3 into fourth-and-8.

McVay believed the defense did enough to keep the Rams in the game, but the team repeatedly squandered its momentum. He said the Rams must return to the drawing board, determine how to improve and stop beating themselves. He also accepted responsibility, saying he must do a much better job.

Although McVay appreciated how the group continued to battle, he said there was nothing positive he could say about the day. The Rams had an opportunity to get the result they wanted, but they surrendered a big play on the first snap of the two-minute situation before making a tackle at the 15-yard line.

Calling it a humbling day is not enough. Better coaching and greater player accountability must be the starting points for a Rams team that has become a 2-4 train wreck.
