Packers vs. Panthers Prediction: Jacobs Leads the Way

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Outspoken With Dan Sileo

Packers Picked to Cover Against Carolina as Jordan Love’s Volatility Remains in Focus

Green Bay enters its game against Carolina needing a win after losing to Detroit last week. With missed field goals and takeaways providing opportunities in that divisional matchup, the Packers let a winnable game slip away.

Now playing in a highly competitive NFC North, with the Bears making moves and Green Bay’s schedule getting tougher, the Packers cannot afford to fall back to a .500 record. Green Bay is favored by 3.5 points and is predicted to cover with a 27-20 victory.

Josh Jacobs could help the Packers control the game in his second appearance back. Although the short rest is not ideal, he also missed the first six weeks of the season. After being featured last week, Jacobs is expected to have another significant role.

The betting card pairs Green Bay covering the spread with Jacobs leading the game in rushing yards at plus 130. Chuba Hubbard’s recent production is trending in the wrong direction, and the Packers’ defense has shown it can limit the run. If Green Bay puts points on the board and creates a favorable game script, Hubbard may not receive many carries. If Jacobs matches or exceeds his workload, he is the pick to finish with more rushing yards.

Jordan Love remains the biggest variable for Green Bay. At his best, he can look like one of the game’s elite quarterbacks. At other times, his reckless throws leave observers wondering where he intended to put the football.

That streakiness creates dramatic swings for the Packers. Love is capable of getting hot for a month and winning a Super Bowl, but he can also go cold and leave Green Bay far outside the playoff picture. When healthy, the Packers have enough skill players on the outside to beat anyone, but Love’s aggressive jump balls can quickly turn games in the wrong direction.

Love may not be the best quarterback in the league, but he has the upside to play like the best for a month. Only a handful of quarterbacks realistically possess that kind of ceiling.
