Uh, let's just jump right into probably the biggest storyline, at least this week. Uh, that would be with the Indianapolis Colts and Phil Rivers at 44 years old being signed at retiring Pro Football Hall of Fame. That can wait, but the Colts needing to push towards the playoffs. What are your expectations for him this week? Yeah, you gotta wait 5 years. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. So, all right, let's, let's explain kind of where the Colts were at. So, They were left no choice. I mean, they called, it wasn't just Rivers, as I understand, they called some guys who had retired recently, but Rivers said, yes, he's been staying in shape, coaching high school football. Yes, he just turned 44 earlier this week, but my understanding is he looked really good in practice, it was obvious he's ready to go. They had to see it first on the practice squad, and he took the majority of the first team reps as the week went along, so, The approach will always be, no matter who the quarterback is, it starts with the run game with Jonathan Taylor, whereas Tom in in years past, Taylor was not as effective, had injuries, so they couldn't do what they really want to do, but it really with Shane Stein is now starting with the run game because it does help out, in this case, Philip Rivers. Although without Braden Smith, the right tackle, that's a concern. Now, here, here's gonna be the approach, though, for Seattle and Mike McDonald, the head coach who also calls the plays. They're gonna look early on and see if they, if, could they get home with the regular pressure. If not, they're they're gonna come after Philip Rivers. Why? Lack of mobility. 44 years old. Last time he played in a game in the National Football League was, uh, I believe January 5th, 2021 when they're in the playoffs. Mhm. So, they're gonna get after him, and they're gonna make it crazy. I mean, they, they, they, they're gonna wanna make Rivers move because he can't move, Tom. That's the thing with Philip Rovers, it was never about his arm strength, it's about his mobility, and they're gonna test it. So, I get why the line is what it is. We haven't seen this guy play in nearly 5 years, and it, it just makes sense. I, I, it, it would be hard for me to take the Colts here and, and, and, in the big number, but understand something. Philip Rivers knows how to play this, this game. He'll manage it as well as he can, and they were not gonna go to Riley Leonard. The simple fact is he's a third string quarterback for a reason. They're just gonna take their chances in, in a game, Tom, they desperately need to win. Uh, Cap, I do wanna just talk quickly. Did they, did they call up anybody? I, I know you said they made calls, but we've seen like Cam Newton come out and say that it was a slap in his face that they didn't ask him. I mean, you would think they, they would opt for more of a mobile type of quarterback, especially knowing how, how prototypical and just, you know, immobile Philip Rivers is. Yeah, oh, no, they, they looked at, they've, they, it's not the first time that Chris Ballard's done this, if you remember, uh when Andrew Luck suddenly retired and they made the trade for Jacoby Brissett, who's still playing now, he's starting for the Cardinals. Uh, they, they, they looked at a number of quarterbacks and, you know, you know, the way, what direction they went, uh, that time with, with, uh, with Brissett, and then, you know what Philip Rivers did in 2020. 0, by the way, Rivers does have experience with Michael Pittman in 2020, so that, that does matter. If you're, if you're looking at, if you're looking at props, if you're looking at receiving props, they do have, they did have some chemistry. So that's one thing, he does have experience. I know it's been 5 years, but they do have some experience.
