The Dallas Stars occupy the top position in the Central Division, while the New York Islanders are fighting to hold a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Stars have points in seven of their last ten games, while the Islanders have lost two in a row. The Stars have been consistent at home, posting a 17-8-3 record, while the Islanders are 10-12-5 as the visitors. Despite the juice, we’re riding with the Stars tonight at -170 on the moneyline.
SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Stars Moneyline (-170) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
8:00 p.m. ET – New York Islanders vs. Dallas Stars
Puck Line: Stars – 1.5 | Moneyline: Stars Moneyline -170 | Total: 6.5 (O -102, U -120)
Where to Watch: NHLN, BSSW, MSGSN | Location: American Airlines Center (Dallas, TX)
Sticking with the Stars and Islanders matchup, the moneyline isn’t the only five-star edge in this contest. If you look at the makeup of these respective rosters, it’s no secret that in an ideal world, both teams would prefer to play in a low-scoring, hard-checking matchup. That’s precisely what we’re projecting to transpire. The Stars have seen five or fewer goals scored in each of their last three games, leading us to back the under 6.5 tonight against the Islanders.
SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Under 6.5 (-120) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
Claude Giroux – Ottawa Senators to Score a Goal
Although things haven’t gone according to plan for the Ottawa Senators this season, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been at least some bright spots within the organization. Veteran forward Claude Giroux has continued to play at a near-point-per-game pace and has tallied 52 points in 555 games. Giroux has points in each of his last five games, tallying five assists. Giroux is due to find the back of the net, so we’re targeting his price of +210 tonight.
SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Giroux to Score (+210) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
Matt Duchene – Dallas Stars to Score a Goal
One veteran forward who’s found their footing in a new home this season has been Stars center Matt Duchene. Duchene has been highly productive in Dallas, tallying 55 points in 57 games, including 22 goals. Duchene has registered three goals over his last five games, and there’s value in his hot streak continuing against the Islanders. Backing Duchene to score comes with a very appetizing price of +220.
SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Duchene to Score (+220) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
Pavel Zacha – Boston Bruins to Record Over 1.5 Shots on Goal
The Boston Bruins have continued rolling along as the class of the Eastern Conference. Depth scoring, defense, and goaltending are three reasons why the Bruins continue to find success in 2024. Pavel Zacha has had another solid campaign with increased responsibilities after Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci hung up their skates. Zacha’s shots on goal prop tonight is set at just 1.5, and he’s gone over that number in four of his last five games.
SportsGrid’s Best Bet: Zacha to Record Over 1.5 Shots (-176) | SportsGrid Projections: 5 Star Rating
