On Monday night, the United States faces its first significant roadblock at Copa America. To reach the knockout stages, it requires all three points against Uruguay. Can the US pull off the victory and march on in the competition?
Let’s take a look at Monday night’s group stage fixture for the US, including kick-off time, television coverage, betting odds, and a brief preview of what to watch for, along with a best bet:

The United States looked like they would fulfill their expectation of being one of two teams to advance out of Group C after a comfortable victory over Bolivia to open up proceedings. A win over Panama was expected to set up this match as an exciting bout for the top spot in the group. Instead, a foolish red card from Tim Weah against the Panamanians put the US behind the eight-ball and eventually led to them leaving the pitch empty-handed on Thursday night. They must now defeat Uruguay to advance out of the group stage.
Uruguay has looked like the strongest team throughout the group stage at Copa America, picking up all six points in their opening two fixtures and conceding just once, a meaningless goal for Panama late when the Uruguayans were already up 3-0. They are overwhelming favorites to win Group C entering this match and should be considered a serious contender to win the entire competition entering the knockouts.
We gave out Darwin Nunez to score in one of our previous Matchday previews at Copa America, and it has not failed to pay dividends at every juncture. The star striker has scored in seven consecutive matches and shows zero signs of stopping. The United States has allowed a goal in six of their previous eight fixtures. There are vulnerabilities within this backline, and Nunez’s ability to score with pace, in the air, and with both feet will trouble the USMNT defense.
The Pick: Darwin Nunez to Score (+210)
