FIFA Commemorates the Launch of New African Office in Rabat

FIFA president Gianni Infantino celebrated the opening of the new FIFA Africa office in Rabat, Morocco, set to occur in 2025. During the ceremony, he expressed the global impact that this office would have on football. The FIFA Africa office will join other global hubs in Paris, Miami, and Jakarta to enhance FIFA's relationship with its 211 member associations and foster the growth of football worldwide.

Infantino specifically thanked Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed the VI, and the Moroccan Football Federation for their contributions. He emphasized that this office is not just an administrative or sports center but serves as the nerve center for both Moroccan and African football—and now, world football. The office's location in the Mohammed the 6th football complex underscores its significant role.

Moroccan football administrator Fauzi Lekja, who is deeply involved with both CAF and FIFA and has been instrumental in Morocco’s football development, received special recognition.

Infantino also highlighted Morocco's strides on the international stage, noting the historic achievements of the Moroccan men's national team reaching the World Cup semi-finals in 2022, and the women's team advancing to the knockout stages of the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time the following year. Additionally, Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, marking a significant event as the second World Cup hosted in Africa.

This development signifies Morocco's growing influence in international football, set to host the Under 17 Women’s World Cup for the next five years and other major events, showcasing its capability and readiness to unite and lead in the global sports arena.
