But first, let's discuss the latest sports betting story of the day, and we begin with the NCAA ruling that University of San Francisco guard Marcus Williams is ineligible to play after determining he shared inside information about his expected game. Statistics with a former Fresno State player named Mike Robinson, who used the tips to place daily fantasy bets, ineligible to play, he had already been ruled permanently ineligible for placing prop bets on his own performance and conspiring with a teammate at Fresno State. The cases, one or more than a dozen, which players have been involved with multiple schools. And sidelined amid nationwide investigations into college sports, gambling, players, folks, don't bet on your own props. Learn your lesson from there. Sharon Moore is no longer the head coach at the University of Michigan. And rather than me pouring on and going over all the stuff that's going on the internet, maybe we should just leave it at that. He's been detained by police for some improprieties that allegedly went on at the University of Michigan. Michigan decided to let him go for allegations that he had an improper relationship with a staffer at the University of Michigan. And again, you can read a lot about this on the internet with some wild allegations going back and forth. You really don't do allegations here on Newswire, so I would just encourage you to hang tight, find out what actually happened. But we know the Wolverines are now looking for a new head coach. Bad timing with bowl season coming too. All right. The time is now for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If they're gonna make a playoff push, they gotta win this game tonight against the Atlanta Falcons and the oddsmakers are telling us it's gonna be a close one. Bucks have not played well. They're 4.5 point favorites against a team that's really not playing well, by the way, and the Atlanta Falcons total 44.5. Usually when the. These two teams play, it's expect the unexpected. Let's get a preview from the head coaches Todd Bowles and Raheem Morris. We'll start off with Bowles on the opportunity to capture a division and win this game. I don't consider him a backup quarterback. I consider him a starter and he has for a long time. Knows where to go with the football, very accurate, knows the offense inside and out, so it's gonna be a challenge for us, especially everyone needing to be where they need to be. So the challenge is just facing the entire team. The entire team, we got to learn from what happened last year. We did some things good the first time, but that was a long time ago. It feels like since week one or week two that we played them, and this time around, we just got to make sure we execute and make plays. Yeah, coach, how do you keep the morale of, of your team together with, you know, some of the things off the table at the playoffs and so forth? Yeah, that's, that's awful. You never want to be in this spot, but really just the job is to go out and play spoiler right now. You got a Tampa Bay Buccaneer team on Thursday that, um, that we got a lot of respect for, that we love to play. Um, that's always a highly competitive football game, and, um, I expect no different. I love the fact that, um, our guys get to get back, back on the grass and go out there and take another shot at it. Uh, we got some high character people in our building. Um, and now we just got to go look at the tape. We gotta go figure out from a team, a collective group and what we need to do to win this football game because that's the only thing that really matters. Didn't expect a lockout or a strike from the refs in the National Football League, those being the referees, long, refs for short. Their deal expires in May, and the NFL laid out some priorities for a new agreement, including performance-based. Information, also making postseason assignments based on merit rather than seniority, probationary period involving new refs, will they go for it? Will there be a lockout? Remains to be seen, but it seems like the NFL wants to make the refereeing better in the future. Also, the first round of the NFL draft is gonna be better. It's gonna be shorter. The commissioner of the National Football League says that the first-round picks in between will go from 10 minutes to 8 minutes. So the draft ends before midnight. That's a good thing. Also, the United States House passed a bill to help stadiums in the NFL. Eliminate drones from flying over the stadiums. It's a new act and it's in legislation, so naturally, they wanna stop this, of course, cause the World Cup is coming to stadiums as well, and they don't want drones flying over that as well. All right, now, let's go back to on the field. Justin Herbert looks ready to go after. After winning another game on Monday night against the Eagles, of course, Tuesday is a day off. So yesterday, we found out that Herbert's still a little sore, had X-rays on his injured hand, but says he should be able to go this week. Yes, and uh, how'd you, uh, come out of the game with your hands? Uh, yeah, it was, it was pretty sore yesterday, but I think for the most part, uh, got images done, X-rays, and everything was clean for the most part. It's just, you know, getting the swelling down and continuing to, um, get full strength in it and, and continue to do as much treatment as I can. Like considerably more swollen, like after the game as compared to like after surgery or is it about the same? Was it not as bad from the swelling standpoint? Um, I think compared to the days after surgery, I think it's a lot better now. Um, I think it was just sore. Um, I think haven't played on it and Um, using it and, and kind of falling on it too. I, I think that kind of helped and uh. You know, was some of the reasons why it was sore, but uh I think for the most part, it's, it's gotten a lot better. I, I feel like my, my grip strength has gotten better and um just being able to use it has, has gotten better too. Let's shift to the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs playing without Victor Wimbayama seem to be doing just fine. They improved to 17-7 on the season, beating the Lakers last night in LA 132 to 119. The Lakers were 7.5 point favorites. If you took that money line on the Spurs, you're feeling pretty good today. Stefon Cassel had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Luca had 35 points in a losing effort. By the way, if you're following the NBA Cup, that means the Spurs do advance to the semi-finals. Here's Stefan. Castle on setting the tone early, coming out with the win. Uh, I think just the maturity that we had coming into the game. Um, I think our pace was great from the start of the game, kind of opened up the court for us. Uh, I mean, they had a couple of loud plays, but I feel like we, we came together and clamped down when we needed the most. The championship pedigree that you have, did that, or, you know, winning at UConn, did that play into the night, uh, just how you rose to the occasion? Uh, I mean, just knowing the, the stakes of the game, um, I mean, obviously we come into every game wanting to win, but I feel like we did the little things just, uh, just a tad much more, uh, tonight than probably any other game. And, you know, we, we gotta ask a little bit more of everybody, um. You know, we, we don't, we don't crash, you know, we can't. Can't force a lot of turnovers. Um, we did a terrible job, uh, at the end of the 1st quarter and the 2nd quarter of end of quarter stuff. So that, that immediately we're behind the eight ball there. Um, and if a team shoots well, we're, we're gonna be really in trouble. San Antonio Spurs not just winning games these days, but as you can see, winning by almost 50 points last night. Thunder beat the Suns 138 to 89. They're 24-1 on the season. Here's Mark Dagno on picking up the blowout. Yeah, great tone, um, early in the game to build an early lead. And then, yeah, we're a little, you know, muddy in the second quarter, start the second, and then, uh, we closed the quarter really well, you know, both ends of the floor, great precision on offense, and then, Um, really made them earn everything on defense and it built in us a nice lead. The largest margin of defeat ever for the Suns just maybe speak to what absolutely got away there in that second half. I mean, it started, I mean, late in this first half. Yeah, I think they're midway through the second. We might have had down to 12, um. Yeah, then just inability to keep it in front, hang on to the ball, um, it got away from us at the end of the 2nd quarter. What was the message after one like this. First off, give them credit. It's a really good team that played an incredible game, um. I mean, it's OK to be disappointed. Like we didn't play our best, but we, we were here. We were in this environment with a lot on the line in, in, in December, um, against a really good team. And now we got to get better. It doesn't change that that message doesn't change. Win or lose. We, we know we all, we all have something to get better.
