Jimmy Reflects on Fighting Close to Home and His Continued Love for the Sport

Jimmy remains active because he still loves competing. Fighting is a passion that was difficult for him to leave behind, so when he heard events were returning, he began training in August without knowing whether an opportunity would become available.

In September, about three weeks before the fight, he received a call asking if he wanted to compete on the card. He immediately accepted. At this point in his life, he continues because he loves the sport, enjoys training and wants to fight.

Competing at the Prudential Center made the experience particularly meaningful because it is in his backyard. It was his third time fighting there, including a UFC appearance the previous October. For someone born and raised in New Jersey, he said it is where he wants to fight and put on a show.

After the event, Jimmy relaxed with his wife, children and family before returning to his daily responsibilities. He went back to work at the PD during the day and at his school at night. He also planned to resume training and begin preparing for what comes next.

Jimmy said he took his time and enjoyed the entire fight-week process, including the media obligations, weigh-ins, mock weigh-ins and the fight itself. The most difficult part was remaining patient once he reached the arena, completed his preparations and began warming up. At that point, he was ready to enter the first round.

Although he usually watches his complete fights afterward, work and responsibilities at home had kept him busy. He planned to sit down with his wife and children over the weekend to watch the fight. After repeatedly viewing the highlights, he said he had not realized his opponent was out on top of him because he thought the fight was continuing and that his opponent was still trying to tie things up.
