1. Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies remain a model of consistency heading into the upcoming campaign. Jesus Luzardo rounds out a familiar rotation, which is due for renewed success in 2025.
Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola remain the top pitching options, but Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez have proven to be competent middle-of-the-rotation arms. Those four starters combined for 53 wins and a cumulative 15.7 WAR in 2024. Luzardo rounds out the starting five and could easily join the quartet as a double-digit winner.
Expect another dominant season of Philadelphia Phillies starting pitching. They could be the difference as the Phillies look to defend their NL East crown.

5. Miami Marlins
It's going to be another grueling campaign for Miami Marlins starting pitchers. The Fish ranked as one of the worst rotations in all of baseball last season, leaving little hope for improvement in 2025.
For years, Sandy Alcantara was the Marlins' lone bright spot. But his outlook is guarded heading into the upcoming season. The former Cy Young winner missed 2024 following Tommy John surgery and showed signs of decline in 2023.
If he can rebound following surgery, Alcantara will again be the beacon of hope in Miami. Without much help, it'll be another laborious season for the Marlins.

4. Washington Nationals
Over the past few years, the Washington Nationals have collected an array of young and talented players. Unfortunately, they've been unable to develop them to reach their full potential. That will once again be a stumbling block for the Nats this season.
MacKenzie Gore and Jake Irvin have stabilized an otherwise disappointing starting rotation. But even their performances leave a lot to be desired. Irvin led the majors in losses last year, with Gore falling two shy of his teammate. Moreover, the duo combined for a 2.7 WAR, which is well short of the usual standard expected for the top two arms in the rotation.
Those concerns grow the further down the rotation you migrate. We're not counting on Washington to get the most out of their pitching in a competitive NL East.
3. Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves moved on from a couple of starting pitchers this offseason, but it didn't come at the expense of their presumed effectiveness.
Chris Sale remains the staff ace, but an electric group of starters joins him. Reynaldo Lopez will be looking to recapture last season's All-Star form, and Spencer Schwellenbach is expected to take steps in his development.
With Spencer Strider back in the mix and a handful of other options to round out the rotation, the Braves are back in business this season.
2. New York Mets
The New York Mets' starting rotation will look slightly different in 2025. This offseason, the Mets moved on from Luis Severino and welcomed back Kodai Senga, who missed virtually all last season with a shoulder issue. His presence in the rotation sets the Mets up to build off 2024's achievements.
With Senga presumably healthy, there will be less pressure on Sean Manaea and David Peterson to perform. Additionally, the team signed Frankie Montas, giving the Mets a dangerous top four in their rotation. With Clay Holmes rounding out the starting five, we should see the Mets' starting pitchers thrive this season.
As with any Mets' pitcher, the starting rotation benefits significantly from their pitching-friendly confines of Citi Field. Assuredly, New York will make a run up the standings in 2025.
