Bob Shares His Picks for Baseball’s MVP and Manager of the Year Awards
Bob called Peter Crowe Armstrong of the Cubs the clear choice for National League Most Valuable Player, predicting a unanimous victory. He placed Otani second and Bryce Turang of the Brewers third. He said Crowe Armstrong pulled away in September, particularly after Otani stopped pitching.
In the American League, Bob selected Ian Alvarez of Houston for MVP, saying he carried the team on his back. He predicted Junior Cabanero would finish second and Bobby Witt third.
For National League Manager of the Year, Bob described the race between Weiss and Murphy as nearly a toss-up. He gave Murphy a slight edge because he expected Murphy to appear among the top three on more ballots. He placed Mattingly third, noting that his team did not make the playoffs until the final day of the regular season and avoided a historic collapse by winning on the final Sunday.
Bob also emphasized that voting is completed at the end of the regular season and does not include postseason results.
For American League Manager of the Year, Bob chose Will Venable, citing the turnaround from 121 losses to 102 and a playoff appearance while nearly winning the division. He placed Boston second and Cash third.
