Let's talk about the biggest risers from the previous update, and we got to start with one of the biggest, Nolan McLean, pitcher for the New York Mets, who came onto the scene, burst onto the scene, and was immediately one of the better pitchers in the National League. And now he's all the Way up from 42 to the number 3 spot in the top 100. Nolan McLean, let's hear it. Oh man, I mean, and then we're gonna you're you're gonna see a theme here through the, the biggest risers. It's, you know, big league success. And of course, that's where you, you recalibrate, but you also don't want to overvalue big league success, right? So you don't want to say, oh, he had 34 good starts, so now I'm gonna override everything that I believed about him as a prospect. But Nolan McLean is a really unique situation because He is a guy that you didn't get to see throw a ton in college. You didn't get to see him throw a ton in in the minor leagues, right? In 2024, he was still a two-way player. He didn't fully stop, you know, hitting until about midway through the season. So with Tommy John in college and and limited innings, and then, you know, still doing a little bit of the two-way thing. It really felt like 2025 was a year where McLean finally had a full offseason just focusing as, as a pitcher. Finally had, you know, the opportunity to build up innings wise, and they just continued to throw more and learn and and you saw this final form of him in the big leagues where he was trending up to that, and then it just really all seemed to come together for him at the highest. Level and you mentioned like he was absolutely dominant. It was a 206 ERA in 48 innings, and he struck out 57 and walked just 16. It's the assortment of pitches too. I think what he can get you with two different fastballs. He can throw as nasty of a sweeper as you're gonna find. I know that the numbers against it weren't, weren't very good for him. I think it's gonna be really good overall. That you just, it's ridiculous how he can spin it. And then he's got a cutter, he's got a curveball, he's got a splitter. He can attack you so many different ways and get you out in so many different ways that I think McLean looks like a, a really special arm who, even though he's already 24, his pitching age to me is like 20, and I think he's continuing to get better and better and better as we see him throw more. And next up on the biggest risers is Trey Savage of the Toronto Blue Jays, and you talk about balancing regular season success while projecting 56 years into the future. How do you balance while adding his incredible postseason success? Because we've already seen it with a top prospect in the 2023 World Series with Evan Carter. If we just took that and said he's the top prospect in baseball, look at him now. Now, but it's got to be hard when you see how well Trey Savage did do in the postseason. So how do you balance that? But he's all the way up to number 6 on your top 100. Well, you run our socials. You, you, did I call the reaction or did I call the reaction to a T. What do you mean? Did you not watch the World Series? Yes, I did. That's why he's 7 or 6 now, excuse me. Uh. You're evaluating, as you alluded to, Peter, like, you're evaluating for the next 6 years, and what is it gonna look like for the next 6 years. Now, you Savage, I think what he showed in the playoffs is that his release is extremely unique. We knew that already though. If you look at the preseason write up, I, that was something I always thought made him really, really high floor type of an arm, but also just, just unique in general. But I think what we saw on the big stage was that maybe he's not as easy to game plan for, as some may have thought, like, OK, well, it's fastball splitter, uh, and it's a really high release, just try to. Bring him up. The Dodgers couldn't do that. And that backup slider that he has, I think was another reason why. So I think we saw that one, the intangibles, you know, in the playoffs, clearly he's, he's able to handle the big moment. Clearly he's not really fazed by that. Also, you're, you're able to see him kind of turn the lineup over, change his looks a little bit, and then you just realize how much of an outlier look he's giving you. But at the same time, like, you, you can't just look at one start and say, Oh, well, well, well, now I think the next 6 years are gonna be different than what I thought they were gonna be. And I think that's important too. Like it was a really good postseason. There was the one World Series strike that really, really catapulted him. It was a 3580RA over 6 games, really, really good. 36% strikeout rate. It was an amazing postseason, but I don't think you can just totally override your priors on a guy and say, oh, he should be the number one prospect. I, I think if if Connor Griffin was offered forrea Savage, and we're gonna get to the top 10. I'd imagine, I maybe the where the Blue Jays are at, maybe they don't do it, but I'd imagine that almost every single team saying yes to that, they're taking Connor Griffin in 2 seconds.
