And I'm excited to start with Wilson Contreras because that was the move that I felt like everybody saw coming, yet they were always the Red Sox were always searching for these greener pastures. They were pushing, they were in the Canel Marte sweepstakes. They were in these other conversations, and then they come back to the sitting duck guy who's a really good baseball player, but was sitting on a team without much direction for 26. It just felt like this could have happened 3 weeks ago. Yeah, you know, and, and you never know like what else was out there or what they were considering, but yeah, I, I love settling, and settling is the wrong word. I love landing here, right? I mean, Contreras, yes, 33 years old, gonna be 34 years old within the first month or so of the season. So, you do wonder, you know, how his game will, will age in the next couple of years, but he's not in the squad anymore. He's playing first base. So, I, I think it's gonna age pretty well. And the guy flat rakes, like he just flat out rakes. And we've seen it year over year over year over year. He's a career 122 WRC plus. And I know that like it was popular. A lot of people were throwing out numbers of how similar, you know, he, he is production-wise to Pete Alonso. Obviously, I'm gonna take Pete Alonso's run creation a little bit more. But there is merit to the point of like, Hey, this guy is quite valuable, and I think it's kind of got lost in the shuffle between the catching, not catching thing, the Cardinals not really being overly competitive the last couple of years. Um, and, and I just, honestly just feel like he really solid numbers just not standing out in one particular area. Like you see 20 homers, uh, and you see, uh, decent batting average, decent OBP and. I, I don't know, maybe nothing jumps off the page. I think it's become almost underrated how productive he's been, and he was cheap to acquire because he did come with a contract, understandably a, a fair one, but. He came with some money on top, which they were actually able to get included on the deal. I think it worked out really well for the Red Sox. Yeah, so the full move was, he was acquired from Saint Louis, uh, to Boston. He goes from Saint Louis to Boston along with $8 million cash over the next two years in exchange for Hunter Dobbins, Joker Fajardo, and Blake Aita. Uh, the contract details for Wilson Contreras, he's making it. $18 million in 2026. Of the $22 that he's owed, 4 will come from Saint Louis, so Boston will pay him $18 million. Boston will pay him $17 in 2027, and, uh, Saint Louis will cover the other four. So they eat 8 of the remaining $41 million I think that's what that math comes out to. And then in his age 36th season, Boston has a club option of $20 million for Wilson Contreras. To your point, he's not in the squad anymore. This guy still into his early to mid-30s, has this violent swing. Peyton Genis with us, obviously, doing a great job producing the show. Podcast P is what we're rolling with for Peyton Genis, but I want you to flash that bat speed leaderboard again because, uh, Jay Hay, who does great stuff in baseball is dead, put this out. Fastest average bat speed for a right-handed hitter during the 2025 season. Junior Camanerro at 78.5 miles an hour. Joe Adele was about 1 mile an hour slower than that. Aaron Judge, Vlatty Junior, Julio Rodriguez, then Wilson Contreras. What do all these guys have in common? Junior Camanerro hit 40 homers at 22 years old. Joe Adele was flirting with 40 homers. Aaron Judge just won. The MVP. Vlady Junior can get into him as well as really anybody in baseball. Julio Rodriguez is a physical specimen that we're waiting on making the jump from star to superstar. And then you've got Wilson Contreras. This guy got a 5-year, near $90 million deal from the Saint Louis Cardinals after his time came to a close in Chicago. He's done nothing to debunk the idea that he's one of the better right-handed hitters in Major League Baseball. When I say one of the better, I don't mean top 10, I may not even mean top 15 to 20, but he's firmly in the 15 to 30 range, I think, among right-handed hitters in baseball, and you want that guy at this price point based on where the market has gone. And, you didn't have to give up any major, major pieces. You know, I think they gave up a little bit more of the Red Sox to get some of it paid down, and I hope that that means. They're going to reinvest that into signing a free agent because they've been busy on the trade market. But, you know, I also think for the Cardinals, it, it really doesn't make any sense to, to keep a Contreras at this stage, to be able to bring in a, a, a trio of arms there and 22 prospects that you have time to develop and a depth arm, uh, and Dobbins that can get in there and help you as soon as he's recovered from that ACL I think is great.
