Boston Celtics Dominate Cavaliers, Show Depth and Playoff Power

The Boston Celtics solidified their status as the top team in the Eastern Conference with a resounding 120-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden. Despite being the number one seed, Boston’s 25-point victory over Cleveland demonstrated why home-court advantage remains crucial for them. They were expected to dominate, entering the game as 12.5-point favorites, and they certainly delivered.

In contrast to Oklahoma City, who were only 3.5-point favorites against Dallas, Boston showed why their odds were set so high. They shut down Cleveland and covered the spread with ease. The Celtics aimed to close out strong, recognizing the importance of preventing Cleveland from gaining any advantage on their home court. Despite learning some lessons in Game 2 against the Miami Heat, where the Celtics struggled from the perimeter, the team rebounded remarkably.

The star of the game was Derrick White, whose job must feel like the best in sports. He played 33 minutes and went 7-of-12 from beyond the arc, taking advantage of the space created by Boston’s offensive threats. With the talent opponents must account for, White consistently finds himself open and punishes teams with his accurate shooting. His performance in this series is expected to remain consistent, given the opportunities he gets.

While Jayson Tatum had an uncharacteristically quiet game with only 18 points, going 0-for-5 from deep, it didn’t matter. The Celtics won by 25 points due to their depth. Jaylen Brown also contributed significantly, going 12-of-18 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range for 32 points.

With this kind of depth, it’s tough to predict who can truly challenge Boston. Though tougher competition awaits, the Celtics’ dominance without needing their A-game from every star is a testament to their championship potential.
