Zach Edey 10+ Rebounds/Memphis to Win (+260)
Zach Edey enters this season as the presumptive Rookie of the Year frontrunner, and he'll have a great opportunity to be a huge contributor to the success of the Memphis Grizzlies this season as they look to get back into contention atop the Western Conference now that they're fully healthy. They'll open the season on the road against the Utah Jazz, who struggled mightily to defend opposing centers this season, so I'm already envisioning Zach Edey camping out in the paint and collecting every rebound within his reach. At +260, I love the price I'm getting for Edey to dominate the glass and the Grizzlies to pull out the win.
Andrew Nembhard 12+ Points/Indiana to Win (+190)
The Indiana Pacers open the season on the road as 4.5-point favorites against the Detroit Pistons, and I don't care about whatever changes the Pistons made this offseason. They certainly can't become a good team overnight, and the Pacers have plenty of cohesion among their rotation, allowing them to start the season hot right away. Andrew Nembahrd is expected to take a big leap as the two-guard in this starting lineup alongside Tyrese Haliburton after a strong postseason, so we'll look for him to get us 12 points to complete our player performance double. At +190, we're all over this
Dyson Daniels 8+ Points/Atlanta to Win (+145)
The Atlanta Hawks traded away Dejounte Murray this summer as his pairing with Trae Young just didn't work, and now they're looking to replace him with Dyson Daniels. The 2022 eighth-overall pick didn't have much success in New Orleans, but he's still young and has seen his shot from beyond the arc improve. He looked good in the preseason, and I'm bullish on all the open looks he'll get tonight from Young. All we need is for him to get eight points and for the Hawks to beat a miserable Brooklyn Nets at home. At +145, let's ride!
Tyrese Maxey 30+ Points/Philadelphia to Win (+275)
The Philadelphia 76ers have a tough task to open the season as they'll be without Joel Embiid and Paul George to start the season with the Milwaukee Bucks coming to town. It will all be on Tyrese Maxey tonight, but the 76ers are still just 3.5-point underdogs and +142 on the moneyline. Maxey needs to give the 76ers 30 points if they want a chance to win the game, so I'm just viewing this as a 76ers ML bet at a great +280 price.
Paolo Banchero 8+ Rebounds/Orlando to Win (+265)
The Orlando Magic open their season up with a Florida battle against the Miami Heat in South Beach, and the Magic sit as just two-point underdogs on the road. I'm very low on the Heat coming into the season, and I don't think there is any doubt in my mind that the Magic will be the better team on the court. Paolo Banchero will need to lead the charge if the Magic want to pull off the minor upset, and he managed to grab at least eight rebounds in all four of his meetings against the Heat last season. At +265, this is a must-bet in my eyes.
Brandon Miller 20+ Points/Charlotte to Win (+440)
The Charlotte Hornets sit as seven-point underdogs on the road against the Houston Rockets to open the season, and I've been bullish on what the Hornets can be this season. They won't be any sort of contender, but I expect them to rapidly accelerate their rebuild under Charles Lee, and I can see the Rockets experiencing some growing pains out of the break. I believe the Hornets are more than live to win this game outright, so I'll look for Brandon Miller's second-year leap to be on full effect after he averaged north of 20 points per game across the final two months of last season. At +440, let's roll the dice.
