LSU PG Angelica Velez to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal

According to SportsGrid’s James Young, LSU point guard Angelica Velez will enter the transfer portal.

A former four-star prospect, Velez played her high school basketball at The Webb School in Tennessee and was the No. 21 player in the 2023 class by Prospect Nations. Before committing to LSU, she helped Webb capture back-to-back state championships in her junior and senior years. Velez was named 2023 Division II-A Miss Tennessee Basketball Player of the Year for her accomplishments.

Playing on a star-studded LSU team, Velez saw little action her freshman season, averaging just 4.8 MPG. That said, she offers tremendous playmaking ability and, per Young, should have a “LONG list of suitors for her services."
