Seton Hall Pirates 2024-25 Preview & Big East Basketball Predictions

Head coach Shaheen Holloway has proven that he is one of the best coaches in the country at doing more with less. After being picked to finish ninth in the conference in last year’s preseason poll, Holloway led the Pirates to a fourth-place finish that included wins over UConn and Marquette. He spent four seasons at Saint Peter’s turning lemons into lemonade, a tenure that culminated with a trip to the Elite Eight in one of the most improbable NCAA Tournament runs the sport has ever seen. He has proven time and time again that he is a winner.

Dylan Addae-Wusu will be the rock for this team on the offensive end, a returning guard with brute strength and some finesse to go with it. His size and toughness help embody what Holloway wants out on the court for his team, as will plenty of his players. This will be a typical Holloway team. They will look to keep games in the 60s, grind you out for 40 minutes, and beat you with toughness and hard-nosed defense. We’ll slot the Pirates in at seventh by roster composition and overall talent. But if we had to pick one team to outshine their ranking by season’s end, it would be Seton Hall. Holloway has proven to be one of the best at doing something with nothing, so we’ll side with history repeating itself here.
Seton Hall Pirates Top Additions
Zion Harmon (Bethune-Cookman) | Garwey Dual (Providence) | Scotty Middleton (Ohio State) |
Zion Harmon is an intriguing pickup. The Bethune-Cookman transfer was a top-80 recruit out of high school and will now be at his third program after starting his career at Western Kentucky. He is an explosive athlete who has struggled with consistency, and it will be worth monitoring how he handles the jump to Big East play. Garwey Dual will join him in the backcourt, a lengthy, raw sophomore who could become a monster on both ends of the court under Holloway’s wing. He provides some great defense, athleticism, and size in the backcourt from Providence and should start right away for the Pirates. Scotty Middleton joins as a former top-50 recruit out of high school who didn’t quite pan out during his freshman season at Ohio State. Holloway will try to get the most out of a talented guard with elite length and athleticism.
