Georgia Tech vs. Florida State Best Bet ATS: Florida State -10.5 (-110)
The Florida State Seminoles weren’t thrilled with how last season ended. The Seminoles were left out of the College Football Playoff after going undefeated in the regular season and winning the ACC Championship. Of course, that doesn’t factor in Jordan Travis’s injury, but it still left a sour taste in Mike Norvell and Co.’s mouths. The Seminoles went on to see most of their roster opt-out for their bowl game against Georgia, where they ultimately got smashed. We’re fully expecting the Seminoles to use that as some motivation, even with different pieces added to their roster.
The Seminoles are still a top-ten team in the country headed into 2024, led by transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. With Norvell’s play-calling ability and the veteran experience that Uiagalelei brings, the Seminoles offense should transition into a significant threat in 2024. The Seminoles’ offense taking on the Yellow Jackets’ defense highlights the most significant mismatch in this matchup. We’re projecting the Seminoles to put up plenty of points and move the football relatively easily. Seeing them take advantage of defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci’s aggressive scheming won’t be a surprise. Look for the Seminoles to run the football and mix in Uiagalelei’s bread and butter in play action. The Seminoles make an early statement and cover the number.
Georgia Tech vs. Florida State Best Bet Total: UNDER 55.5 (-110)
The hype is real for both offenses entering this matchup, with newfound optimism for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets will have some familiarity at quarterback, with Haynes King returning as their starting signal-caller. King has the dual-threat ability you’re looking for from a quarterback, knowing he can create plays with his athleticism and football IQ.
Despite knowing what King is capable of, we’re not bullish about this matchup being a high-scoring shootout, at least not from the Yellow Jackets’ perspective. Georgia Tech has struggled against teams that can stop the run, and the Seminoles look to have one of the top defensive lines in the nation. That spells trouble for Georgia Tech in its attempt to move the football in this clash.
Georgia Tech vs. Florida State Best Player Props
DJ Uiagalelei Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-104), DJ Uiagalelei First Touchdown (+850)
DJ Uiagalelei has 21 career rushing touchdowns, and we’re expecting Mike Norvell to call his number plenty this season with the Seminoles in tight. This is a prop that we’ll be consistently riding, specifically, Uiagalelei scoring the first touchdown of the game.
