The college football season continues with Week 9 action. What SEC bets should you make this week? The SEC has plenty of contenders looking to make their mark for the National Championship in 2024, highlighted by Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss. The journey for these powerhouse programs continues in Week 9. Let’s dive in.
We’ll highlight our weekly SEC best bets below and keep track of our betting record throughout the season. Good luck!
Season Record: 15-10-0
Units: +11 Units
SEC Play (1 Unit)
Auburn Tigers vs Kentucky Wildcats
Spread: Tigers +2.5 (-105) | Wildcats -2.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Tigers +112 | Wildcats -134
Total: OVER 43.5 (-115) | UNDER 43.5 (-105)
This is an exciting spot for the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats were humiliated last week by the Florida Gators, presenting a nice spot to bounce back at home. The Auburn Tigers have had some moments this season, but they’ve yet to string together a complete game effort like we’ve seen from the Wildcats. Although the Wildcats were exploited defensively last week, the Tigers will have more difficulty finding holes against this dominant pass rush. This defense isn’t one that I’d want to play this week after how they performed last week. There’s too much talent on that side of the football not to look in their direction as a favorite. There’s some value in backing them straight up on the moneyline or winning by a field goal or more.
Recommended Play: Wildcats Moneyline (-134)
No. 21 Missouri Tigers vs No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide
Spread: Tigers +16.5 (-106) | Crimson Tide -16.5 (-114)
Moneyline: Tigers +580 | Crimson Tide -880
Total: OVER 51.5 (-105) | UNDER 51.5 (-115)
It’s been a strange season for both of these respective SEC teams. The Missouri Tigers had high expectations after their leap in the standings last year and retaining a lot of crucial pieces. The Tigers have yet to live up to that billing, which is a cause for concern against an angry Alabama team on the road. This isn’t the same version of the Crimson Tide we were accustomed to seeing under Nick Saban. That’s not a slight to Kalen DeBoer, who’s a damn good coach in his own right. Even with some concerns about the overall ceiling for the Crimson Tide, this is a great matchup for them to record another signature victory and make a statement. Neither side can afford to lose this game, and I expect the Crimson Tide’s experience and talent level to ultimately win out at home by a considerable number.
Recommended Play: Crimson Tide -16.5 (-114)
No. 8 LSU Tigers vs No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies
Spread: Tigers +2.5 (-105) | Aggies -2.5 (-115)
Moneyline: Tigers +116 | Aggies -140
Total: OVER 56.5 (-105) | UNDER 56.5 (-115)
Widely viewed as the game of the week in Week 9, the LSU Tigers are set to visit the Texas A&M Aggies. There have been some strong moments from both programs this year, combined with each team also having a letdown performance. The spread indicates a tight game, and we’re inclined to agree with that. This is an excellent opportunity for the Aggies to show they belong in the conversation for the SEC Championship Game. The Aggie’s defense can potentially terrorize this Tigers offense, even against an offensive line littered with players who will have great careers on Sundays. The Aggies can run the football well enough to give them the edge they need at home. Pair that with the better defense of the two, and we’re comfortable laying the 2.5 points for the home side.
Recommended Play: Aggies -2.5 (-115)
