LSU Stays in the SEC After Controversial Debate Ends

LSU Stays in the SEC After Controversial Debate Ends

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From Pushing The Odds with Matt Perrault

LSU Avoids SEC Expulsion by Not Adding NFL-Listed Players to Roster

After considerable discussion and tension, LSU has decided not to add the two players who were with NFL teams this preseason to their final 105-man roster. This decision comes despite intense speculation and threats from the SEC about potentially expelling LSU from the conference. The controversy heightened with numerous political figures framing LSU as being unjustly targeted. However, when it came time to finalize the roster, LSU chose compliance over confrontation.

As a result, LSU will remain a part of the SEC, avoiding the drastic implications that an expulsion would have brought not only to the football team but to the entire athletics department, including baseball and basketball programs. This resolution puts an end, at least temporarily, to the surrounding controversy and ensures that college football does not have to face a potentially disruptive legal battle.
