Akron Football has launched a ground-breaking promotion, titled 'offensive coordinator of the game', allowing one season ticket holder to contribute to the scripting of the opening drive of the team's home opener. In this unparalleled experience, a selected fan will collaborate directly with Akron’s head coach, Joe Moorhead, to design the opening game plays. This initiative aims to deepen fan involvement, offering a rare opportunity to be at the heart of the action.

Andrew Goodridge, the Director of Athletics, emphasized the intention behind this innovative approach, stating it's designed to bring fans closer to the program and provide a valued supporter the chance to sit alongside the coaching staff during a crucial night. The promotion also includes additional chances to participate in the drawing for each season ticket referral made by a fan.

The home opener against Robert Morris on September 12th will be the first occasion a fan gets to play a part in game planning, deliberately choosing a less high-profile game compared to their opener against Wake Forest, a Power Four conference team. The idea is to implement this unique experience in a setting that is significant yet strategically sensible.

Interestingly, the costs for Akron football season tickets are quite affordable, with prices starting at $75 and going up to $181, which contrasts sharply with prices at other institutions, for instance, Boston College’s season tickets cost around $650. This offers an accessible option for fans to engage deeply with Akron Football through this new promotional scheme.
