Chiefs vs. Falcons Best Bet ATS: Chiefs -3.5 (-105)

With injuries in the Kansas City Chiefs running game, it won’t surprise us to see a big game from Patrick Mahomes. Despite Mahomes being the clear answer as the top quarterback in the NFL, he’s consistently underperformed of late in the regular season. That must change if the Chiefs want the one seed in the AFC. The Falcons looked good last week against the Eagles in their upset win, but it will be a tough ask to string together another competent offensive showing against a Steve Spagnuolo defense. With the different looks we should see from the Chiefs on defense, it will be difficult for Kirk Cousins to find consistency, especially when you factor in that he just hasn’t seemed like himself through two games from a mobility standpoint. That was to be expected with the injury that ended his season last year, but we still don’t have confidence for him to create offense in this setting. Expect the Chiefs to pull ahead late and win by a touchdown. 

Chiefs vs. Falcons Best Bet Total: UNDER 46.5 (-110)

As much as we’ve talked about the Chiefs being a difficult team to game plan against on both sides of the football, the Falcons shouldn’t be viewed as a team you can move against at ease. With some of the additions they made this offseason to their pass rush, the Falcons should continue to get stronger defensively as the season progresses. This will be a big test for them against Mahomes and Co., but being at home should favor them in this matchup. The Falcons held the Eagles under 22 points last week, and it’s not hard to envision both sides ending up in the low 20s here. Ride with the under on Sunday Night Football.

Travis Kelce OVER 48.5 Receiving Yards (-114)

Even though Travis Kelce hasn’t had a banner performance through two weeks, sportsbooks are still giving him respect, with a receiving prop closing in on 50 this week. This is an excellent matchup for Kelce and one where the Chiefs would be wise to get him involved early and often. As much as the Chiefs want to spread the field more this season, getting Kelce going after a pair of quiet games should trump that. They need to be more unpredictable on offense, and highlighting Kelce in the game plan this week would create some mismatches against Atlanta’s defense. Whether you want to target Kelce to score a touchdown (+125) or go over his receiving prop, we’re on board for either.
