Packers vs Lions TNF: 7 Favorite NFL Anytime Touchdown Best Bets & Who to Avoid

The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions will meet for an NFC North battle tonight on Thursday Night Football, so here are the top touchdown bets you need to target for the action.

Jahmyr Gibbs (-155) or David Montgomery (-150)?

You can never go wrong by backing either Jahmyr Gibbs or David Montgomery to score, as both guys have scored 11 times this season. If we were to pick one, we’d return to Montgomery after touting Gibbs on Thanksgiving Day. Neither back found the endzone last week, but Montgomery outcarried Gibbs 21-9. Knowing how the Lions’ offense operates, if Montgomery were to get even close to 21 carries again tonight, then finding the endzone is a near guarantee. To avoid laying -150 on him straight up, look to parlay him to rush for at least 40 yards or the Lions to win.

Any Value in Josh Jacobs (-145)?

Josh Jacobs has found the endzone seven times over the past five weeks, so there is value to be had here. Over that stretch, he’s averaged just over 20 carries per game, and the Packers will look to get him involved regardless of how the game is going. Instead of laying -145, if you expect the Packers to keep this game close, parlay his touchdown with the Packers to cover the +3.5 spread for a +155 parlay.

Must-Bet: Amon-Ra St. Brown (+105)

I don’t have specific stats to support this reasoning, but Amon-Ra St. Brown is due to find the endzone. He hasn’t found the endzone in two straight weeks after scoring in eight consecutive games, and the Lions’ offense always looks better in Ford Field. Getting him at +105 in a game with a total of 51.5 is a bet we can’t pass up on.

Fade: Tight Ends

We’re looking to fade tight ends on both sides of the ball tonight, especially Tucker Kraft. While he does have six touchdowns under his belt this season, the Lions defense has allowed the fewest yards and receptions to opposing tight ends, only surrendering a single touchdown. While Sam LaPorta is coming off a notable two-touchdown game last week, he hasn’t seen nearly enough volume on a week-by-week basis to warrant backing him tonight. By comparison, Jameson Williams and Christian Watson are priced similarly to their tight-end counterparts, and both would be more substantial bets.

Packers Wide Receiver Value?

We will tout Jayden Reed in any high-scoring game, as he’s a dynamic red-zone threat. At +155, we’ll find a way to work him into our betting card without giving it a second thought. Additionally, as we’re looking to fade Tucker Kraft, there is value to be had with Christian Watson (+210) and Dontayvion Wicks (+270). The Lions are defensively vulnerable on the outside against wide receivers, and Watson, in particular, is someone we’re looking to back. He scored against the Lions in both meetings last season and had a season-high seven targets against them this year. Despite his rocky year, this is a spot where there is value at +210.

Longshot Bets?

Both offenses are condensed, so there isn’t too much variance among the touchdown scorers. Still, I’d consider backing the Lions’ defense to score at +600. They returned an interception for a touchdown against Jordan Love earlier this season, and on primetime in front of a national audience, a defensive touchdown fits the mold of how the Lions’ season has gone.
