Jacoby Brissett Takes Over as Baltimore Tries to Stay Relevant
Jacoby Brissett will be Derrick Henry’s quarterback for the rest of the season, and the situation cannot get much worse than what unfolded Thursday night. Still, Brissett’s arrival does not mean the Ravens will suddenly win 10 or 11 games.
Brissett must find a way to lead Baltimore to eight or nine wins and hope that is enough to reach the AFC playoffs—or keep the team competitive until Lamar Jackson can return.
Brissett was an adequate replacement for Andrew Luck and had similar results as a starter for the Dolphins and as a backup for New England and Arizona. That has defined his career, but if he can string together a few wins, Baltimore can remain relevant.
The AFC remains wide open without a clearly dominant team. At the same time, the Jaguars should not be overlooked, given how well they have played and the strength of their depth.
