Uh, the Dolphins finally did what every Dolphin fan's been asking for for the last 4 years, and they're benching Tua, and that's very, I wanna be clear about this, they can't cut him because the money is just too crazy for not just another year, for a few more years, yeah, 56 million guaranteed for next year alone. So he's not getting cut. What I thought was interesting about it though, look, they're out of the playoffs. They have nothing else to play for. So you have two young quarterbacks on your roster. You have, uh, you have my guy Wilson, of course. Uh, failure with the New York Jets. Zach Wilson, uh, and then you have Quinn Ewers who came out of Texas and didn't even get drafted, by the way. Oh, they got him, I believe, in the 7th round. Oh, was he a drafted? I thought it may have been a free agent thing, whatever. That's like not being drafted anyway, uh, and they decided Quinn Ewers is getting the start, and I think that's actually smart by the doll. You know what 2 is. He's an average quarterback at best. They've never won a single playoff game with him. We kind of know what Zach Wilson is also now, again, we've seen quarterbacks. Sam Darnold's a great example. Who when you go to a competent coaching staff, all of a sudden they unlock your true potential. Apparently they don't think that way yet about Zach Wilson. Maybe they never will. You know, the Broncos had him in there for a year, and, uh, you know, Sean Payton didn't keep him. They let him go to Miami. But the Quinn Hughes thing is interesting. He was a great college quarterback. Uh, you played for Texas, and I'm not, I don't think they've announced that he's the guy for the final 3, but he's the starting quarterback this week for the Dolphins. What's interesting about that. is why you don't quickly overpay a guy you think might be a franchise quarterback, because now the Dolphins are in a terrible spot. They're not bad enough to get a legitimate franchise quarterback in this year's draft. They can't Theoretically, could you walk away from 2 and just swallow it? Well, the Broncos did with Russell Wilson, but that was 1 year they ate. These guys would have to eat multiple years and a ridiculous amount of money, and they have so many other holes on that roster, you can't fill even half of them. But I do think benching 2 is the right move because you've never won anything with Tua. And to be fair, that's not only on Tua, obviously. He got hurt in the season with a concussion that they lost to the Bills in the playoffs, right? They were in 30 degrees below zero weather when they lost on the road to the Kansas City Chiefs a couple of years ago. The Chiefs were better. Yeah, the Chiefs were a better team, but the reality is that you've never won anything with him, and you do have two other quarterbacks on the roster now. When the Dolphins come back next year, 2 was on the roster. It would be a major, major story of some. some way they either a found a suitor for him, which I don't think they can because of the money, or b they flat out cut him again. I don't think they can because of the money and comparing the Russell Wilson, we're talking about 30 additional million dollars. It would be a $99.2 million dollar dead cap hit if they were to part with him. So 2 is on the Dolphins next year and maybe even the year after that. That being said, you got eliminated from the. Playoffs. And the thing I like best about it is if you guys believe in motivational moves, it does send a message to Tua. You may not be our guy anymore. And even though we might have to have you on the roster, that doesn't mean we have to play you. And what I've noticed a lot in all my years covering football is the very first game the backup gets to play, everybody tries to elevate. Everybody tries to play their best to give the kid a chance, right? Now, I'm not saying the Dolphins are gonna win this week or not. And I don't know that Quinn Ewers is an NFL quarterback. Obviously, the league didn't think that he was because he was drafted in the last round of the draft, but he's got an opportunity now to prove to everybody how they screwed up by not drafting him last April. But I'm telling you, 2 is now on. What's the word I'm looking for? A Countdown. Not countdown. What's the word? Hiatus. Not hiatus. No, he's on notice. I'm on again. I gotta do everything around here. 2 is on notice. He's not on hiatus. He's on notice. He's on notice. Tuas I noticed that for a lot of you, uh, long-suffering Dolphins fans, it's 3 years too late. It's a $250 million too late. I don't know why they ever thought he was Josh Allen. He's not, never was, never will be. But we could be looking at a new era of Dolphins football with Tua on the bench, not as the starting quarterback.
