Jack Campbell's Spinal Cord Injury and Recovery Outlook

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From NFL Pro Football Today

Encouraging Signs for Jack Campbell After Spinal Cord Injury

Dr. Chow shared cautious optimism about Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell following his serious injury. Campbell’s legs are fine, and he is recovering motion in his arms. The hope is that he will make a full recovery, enjoy life with his newborn child and live a normal life.

Dr. Chow said Campbell suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury known as central cord syndrome, in which the legs function better than the arms. He emphasized that Campbell is not paralyzed or quadriplegic, though he has not personally examined him.

Football remains secondary as Campbell continues on the recovery path. For now, the focus is on his health, stability and hope for a complete recovery.
