Jaguars Dominate Baltimore as Trevor Lawrence Continues Strong Run
The Jaguars went into Baltimore and took care of business with a 33-10 victory. Liam Coen’s team is firing on all cylinders, while Trevor Lawrence has helped the offense produce faster starts over the past two weeks.
Coen said the Jaguars chose to receive the opening kickoff because heavier rain was expected in the second half. Starting faster and performing better on the opening drive had been points of emphasis. He praised Lawrence for being sharp and accurate while the game was still competitive.
Lawrence said playing in the rain is something the team frequently experiences in Florida. Both teams had to deal with the conditions, and Jacksonville could not allow the weather to affect its performance. Although a couple of second-half possessions were not good offensively, he felt the Jaguars managed the conditions well and was pleased to leave with a win.
Lawrence finished 16 of 26 for 242 yards and has the Jaguars sitting at 6-2. Coen has Jacksonville playing excellent football and is proving to be a strong coach for the franchise.
On the other side, Derrick Henry was clearly frustrated after Baltimore followed a 4-0 start with four losses. Henry repeatedly said the Ravens were not good enough, needed to improve and had to return to work. With eight games remaining, he said the team must study the film, practice and find a way to turn things around.
Henry also dismissed any suggestion that he might leave, saying he was not going anywhere else. Asked about reports of a trade for Jacoby Brissett, Henry said the Ravens needed all hands on deck and that Brissett could help the team.
The quarterback situation remains a major concern after Joey F finished 10 of 18 for 60 passing yards. Jesse Minner credited the Jaguars and Baltimore’s effort but acknowledged that fighting was only the bare minimum. He said the team would use its break to reset mentally and seek improvement in all three phases.
Baltimore has significant offensive work ahead, and the next question is what Brissett might be able to provide. It is also fair to wonder what Zay Flowers is thinking as the Ravens try to reverse their slide.
