Baltimore Ravens' Future: Should They Trade Lamar Jackson?

Baltimore Ravens' Future: Should They Trade Lamar Jackson?

Segment Spotlight: Quick Hits From The Sporting Tribune Today

Could the Ravens Trade Lamar Jackson and Start Over?

The Baltimore Ravens face questions about their future after another season affected by injuries. When healthy, Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers were playing well, and the team appeared capable of contending. However, relying on everyone to remain healthy has become a recurring issue.

The situation was compared to the Clippers repeatedly banking on Kawhi and Paul George being healthy together. At some point, a team must stop asking “what if” and consider selling another organization on that potential.

Jackson’s multiple MVP awards and career accomplishments could make him worth two first-round picks. Teams such as the Cardinals, Panthers, Jets and Dolphins could be interested in adding an established star rather than going through a complete reset.

From Baltimore’s perspective, it may be time for a fresh start. John Harbaugh had a successful run with the Ravens, and Jackson has been fantastic, but the team has come up short too many times at the end of the season. That could lead the organization to consider moving Jackson while his value remains high.

Miami was presented as an especially compelling destination. Jackson is from Florida, the Dolphins need a star, and they have capital they could move. A deal involving Malik Willis could also provide Baltimore with a bridge quarterback while it searches for its next long-term option.

Pairing Miami with Jackson could accelerate the Dolphins’ rebuild. Players may want to join Jackson, while the organization could market him to fans, free agents and potential coaching candidates. His presence could also give Miami a cornerstone at quarterback.

For the Ravens, the central question is whether to continue hoping the current approach eventually works or trade Jackson for significant draft capital and begin again.
