Montreal’s Collapse Against Winnipeg Exposes Defensive and Goaltending Concerns
Montreal blew a 4-0 lead against a Winnipeg team that entered the game on a nine-game losing streak. Winnipeg had been struggling with aging stars, young players who had not stepped up and shaky goaltending, yet still rallied to beat the Canadiens.
Montreal can score goals with the best teams, and Saint Louis is a great coach. However, the Canadiens must improve defensively and find consistent goaltending. Their number one goaltender is struggling, while Fowler has been fantastic since arriving. Even so, teams can eventually figure out young goaltenders after strong starts.
Until Montreal shores up its defense and receives more dependable goaltending, there are reasons to question whether the Canadiens are as good as their confident fans believe.
Strong opinions can generate intense reactions from fans, but criticism of a team should remain focused on sports rather than become personal or threatening.
