Tampa Bay Rays -110 (Last week: -105)
With one of the strongest starts to a regular season in recent memory, the Tampa Bay Rays were at one time a major favorite to win the AL East. Over the last month, though, those odds have trailed off with their poor play. There have been moments where the Rays look like they’re going to snap out of it, but they just haven’t been able to go on a consistent run. With their mediocre play over the last week, the Rays now sit in a tie with the Baltimore Orioles for the shortest odds to win the AL East at -110.

Baltimore Orioles -110 (Last week: +135)
The oddsmakers’ disrespect of the Baltimore Orioles was real to begin the regular season, but the O’s have forced that to change with the results they’ve continued to display. Baltimore has continued to hold down the top spot in the AL East and is 24 games over .500, the best mark in the American League. With another six wins over their last ten games, the Orioles have seen their odds to win the division bet down from +135 to -110.
Toronto Blue Jays +1100 (Last week: +600)
The Toronto Blue Jays have high-end talent but have struggled with consistency. The Blue Jays occupy a wild-card position in the American League, but dropping the first two games in their series with the Baltimore Orioles didn’t do them any favors. Toronto will still have a chance to split that series, which will either have them 5.5 games or 7.5 games behind the first-place O’s. With some uncertainty surrounding when Bo Bichette will be back in the lineup, it makes sense that the Blue Jays’ odds have taken a hit from +600 to +1100.
New York Yankees +6000 (Last week: +3500)
The New York Yankees had many problems to start the year. Aaron Judge suffered an injury against the Los Angeles Dodgers and was out for a prolonged period, but he’s now back in the lineup for the Bronx Bombers. Even with Judge back in the fold, the impact hasn’t necessarily been felt in the New York win column. The Yankees have won just five of their last ten games and are 3.5 games back of a wild-card spot in the American League. New York’s AL East odds have continued to plummet, dropping from +3500 to +6000.
Boston Red Sox +6000 (Last week: +3400)
After a mediocre first three months of the regular season, the Boston Red Sox caught fire in July and are back in the AL playoff mix. Entering action on August 3, the Red Sox are just 2.5 games back in the AL wild-card race. Still, we’re looking at the AL East odds here, and Boston is nine games back in this race, meaning their odds are slim at best. The Red Sox have continued to see their odds fall to win the division, dropping from +3400 to +6000 over the last week.
