Alabama Crimson Tide: Top 3 Takeaways from Week 11
The Crimson Tide continued their dominance in the SEC moving to 7-0 in conference play with a 49-21 win over Kentucky. With Alabama handily taking care of the Wildcats, it’s safe to say the SEC is in a two-man race between Bama and Georgia. And with the SEC championship looming closer, here are the top three takeaways from the Crimson Tide’s Week 11 victory.
Jalen Milroe is more than just a rushing threat
In Saturday’s win over the Wildcats, Jalen Milroe put together yet another impressive performance. Although the sophomore playmaker finished the day with three rushing touchdowns, he proved that he’s more than just a rushing quarterback. Milroe finished the day with three passing touchdowns and 234 yards through the air. With six total touchdowns and 270 all-purpose yards. Bama’s leader continues to show that he is one of the most dangerous dual-threat QBs in the nation.
Alabama’s defense is dominant once again
Alabama has been known for its powerful defense yearly. This season has proved to be yet another where the Crimson Tide’s defense is a force to reckon with. Bama managed to hold a fairly explosive offense in Kentucky to under 200 passing yards and below 100 rushing yards. Not to mention, Nick Saban’s defense forced two turnovers in the win. If Alabama’s defense can continue to play at a high level and match the offense’s play, they could very well make a case for a CFP vote.
Alabama may give Georgia a run for their money
Throughout the season, Georgia has remained atop the nation ranked No. 1 overall. While Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs have earned each win, they have shown plenty of weaknesses along the way. With how the season is going, a showdown between these two squads in the SEC championship seems inevitable. And with Alabama’s feisty defense and explosive offense, the Crimson Tide may be the team to match Georgia’s physicality and knock them off the top. However, while it won’t be an easy task for Bama, it’ll be interesting to see if Georgia meets their match if Bama is indeed their opponent in the SEC championship.
